“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
Our Story: From Friendship to Business Partners
Great ideas often come from unexpected places. Ours began with a simple conversation between two friends, who both saw the power of connection in fostering stronger, healthier communities and fostering social change. What started as an idea to bring people together who are interested in Community Psychology, turned into a mission—one that now shapes our business and the work we do every day.
Meet Sarah and Cormac—Sarah Prall (Educational Psychologist) and Cormac Duffy (Clinical Psychologist)
We met during our masters degree in Forensic Psychology at the University of Liverpool. A quick friendship formed and though our careers went in slightly different directions we remained close friends.
In 2017, ourselves alongside a small and dedicated group, set up Café Psychologiqué Liverpool. We are proud that The Café is still going as it is a free and open space where people of Liverpool can come together and discuss psychology and life.
While Sarah spent years working as a Childline counsellor and supervisor and working in schools supporting children with SEND, Cormac developed his skills working as an Assistant Clinical Psychologist and focused on research. Despite our having different areas of expertise, and ultimately pursuing different careers, we believe in the values underpinning Community Psychology: Equality, Collaboration, Social Action, Respect for Diversity, Collective Wellness, and the Importance of Community.
We spent hours discussing our ideas and our aim was to create something that would provide more than just individual support—we wanted to bring people together and empower communities to help them understand and address the factors that influence mental health, relationships, and collective resilience.
From this shared vision, Windmill Psychology was born. We didn’t just want to create another business; we wanted to cultivate a space where individuals and communities could thrive together. Today, Windmill Psychology brings that vision to life through workshops, supporting community-based projects, such as Café Psychologiqué, and building a Community Psychology network - The Hummingbird Network.
Our mission is clear: Building stronger, healthier communities—one conversation, one connection, one action at a time. And while the road hasn’t always been easy, the friendship, dedication, and shared commitment to positive social change that started it all continue to guide us every day.
Thank you for being part of our journey in creating stronger communities where everyone can thrive.
